Chitlang Village is a rare destination for the visitors, Culturally, Naturally, Traditionally and Geographically. Chitlang village tour offers to see ethnic people of Nepal, Tamang’s and Newari’s settlements, culture and religion, lifestyles and panoramic view of the mountains.

 

Chitlang Village lies on the southwestern ridge of Katmandu Valley and is very close to Kathmandu. The village is spectacularly beautiful and is surrounded by glorious nature and wildlife. The village route was the only way to get to India in the Rana regime. The village itself is unique destination for the visitors filled with huge ethnic diversity.

The Tamang, Magar, Chhetri, Bramin, Newar Gurung all live in the area, allowing you to experience each of their unique customs and beliefs. Many villagers lack many basic amenities so village tourism will drastically improve the lives of the locals.

Chitlang is approximately 27km away from Kathmandu. By drive it will take approximately 2 hours depending upon your transportation used (Private vehicle or Public vehicle) or Chitlang is also reachable by walking/hiking which will take 4-5 hours approximately. Visitors will be welcome into the community and invited to stay with one of the village families. The accommodation is simple but comfortable bedding and clean toilet facilities. The food will be delicious Nepalese local and eating as one of the family. During the stay you will be able to feel what it is like to live the life of a Nepalese villagers.

Detailed itinerary

Day 01 :Drive from Kathmandu to Matatirtha 1 hrs and hiking 14 km to Chitlang village. Overnight at home-stay

Day 02 :Village excursion and approx. 3 hrs hiking to Kulekhani Dam side, have lunch and drive back to Kathmandu
